Austin Premium Cabinets History
We started in May of 2009 as Centex Cabinets in a small warehouse on Burnet Rd. We started out selling one line of manufactured cabinets and only carrying 5 doors (only one of which was actually popular). Because of the great value we offered, we had steady growth through the first couple years. Over that time, that manufacturer added a few cabinet doors and we added another manufacturer as well.
In the late spring of 2011, we added 3 new manufacturers giving us some great new door styles. Over 100. We also became the national sales rep for one of those companies giving us better pricing than any other cabinet shop in the country. Those new doors styles, better pricing and just the overall maturity of our company have helped us grow year after year.
The business was built on offering the best value and taking the stress out of the process for everyone (primarily the customer). All of that added up to a 5 star experience on every review site.
At the end of 2019, the business was sold and ran under the LLC of ACDK. That started well. But, then the new owner added a lot of employees, expenses and complexity to the business including custom cabinets. Things slowly went south. The added complexity and expenses took the business from profitable to losing more and more money. The 5 star experience slowly dropped until it became a 1 star experience. The business closed with customers still needing their cabinets.
Around June of 2022, the original owner stepped in, stopped new sales and helped deliver about half the kitchens. Unfortunately, the hole was so large that it was impossible to help everyone until more funds became available. The original owner is now trying to find the right person to revitalize the business and take it back to a 5 star experience. There is currently no active location. In an attempt to raise some money to compensate the customers who haven’t received their cabinets as well as compensate employees who have not been paid, a couple of the long time reps have started doing appointments again. They have gone back to the basics of selling limited doors at great value. In addition, we are only working with manufacturers that will build and deliver cabinets directly to the customer. The kitchens we have delivered this way have gone incredibly smoothly (quick delivery and excellent customer experience). The downside is we have fewer options. Volumes are small right now because we don’t have a location. But, we have very limited overhead too. So, it allows us to sell at even better prices while trying to get funds to make previous customers and unpaid employees whole.
If you are looking for the best value and a simple, easy experience, we would love to help you while it simultaneously helps make others whole. We are only selling jobs that are a good fit. That we are confident will create a 5 star experience and rebuild our pre-2020 reputation. It may be a slow process, but we will do it.
