Do you want your kitchen to be top-notch? Who doesn’t want a custom designed kitchen? At a point in our life all of us crave for this, especially when they are kitchen cabinets. All that matters is the details to make it splendid and unique.
Matching ends
These are matching panels at your cabinet ends; people always opt for these instead of flush skins. Similar to decorative legs they add a furniture feeling to your décor overall look, and it rhymes well in both the traditional and Mediterranean spaces.
Crown molding
Nothing works best like the crown molding, the ultimate designer’s touch on your kitchen. It is used to bridge the gap between your wall cabinet and the ceiling similar to a transition and mostly found in traditional kitchens.
Decorative legs
Exists in either chunky or mission style and it will definitely catch anyone’s eye, usually placed on the island ends. Keep in mind that for a traditional and rustic design it is more detailed, less details work well with modern and contemporary designs.

Adding a splash of color
Likewise, whichever you prefer can always do wonders to your home, but neutrals are always the first choices, but to go an extra mile by playing around with colors try green and blue. Definitely a contemporary design because we are trying to mix bright and bold color design o achieve a pop of color.
Glass door fronts
Why don’t you indulge yourself with one of these beauties? It can be transparent, frosted or seeded, but glass door front is always a win-win. It lets you have a glimpse of the dishware and spectacular décor with the right amount of lighting involved.
Corbels
Traditional and elegant and it exists in three types the ornate, oversized and plain ones, mainly used in islands and kitchen cabinets.

Mixed door style
Mix and match can be tricky to achieve, but some end results usually work out, especially for cabinetry door styles. It makes your kitchen have an attractive traditional design by playing around with details just a little bit.
Beadboard
Similar and classical as black and white design, it works best with rustic, farmhouse or beach-style design. Mostly used as a finishing touch added to your décor on cabinets and door styles.
Unique storage space
Do not settle for less and choose a cookie cutter storage over a custom wine rack drawer, you can also opt for custom built-ins, peg pullouts, tray dividers and much more.

Wainscoat panels
Often confused with matching ends, but wainscoat are panels added at the back of cabinets, like a unique dress they make your furniture look authentic.
Fluted molding
A little extra detail to add a unique personal touch to your cabinets, installed on both sides of a cabinet to make a statement.
Stains and glazes
They add charm and creativity especially when they are antique.
Which do you prefer? It is important to always be precise while choosing these design details.

Cabinet Colors For Dark Appliances

To begin with, white kitchens may be a no-brainer and stainless steel goes with everything. However, what do you do when you have black appliances? Actually, this is where cabinet color gets a little trickier; you might find yourself in a situation whereby getting new appliances might not be your cup of tea at the moment. You just need to maneuver about with your black appliances and make it work! That includes making the space feel less like a dark hole.

What of using black appliances in an off-white kitchen? Most people might be a bit skeptical of this color combination, but if you look at various interior design magazines you might as well convert. Keep in mind to have a dark countertops, backsplash, furniture flooring and accents, which assists in leveling the refrigerator range and integrating them smoothly into the space.

Dark wood: This combination together with dark appliances is a tried and true incorporation and it also feels fresh. Most of them have a nice symmetry and the use of black on the countertop anchors the black oven and refrigerator that wing it. Most people see black appliances as a default rather than a first choice.

Additionally, if you are opting for the industrial meets artsy look space, white looks bland. However, using stainless together with ultra-cool corrugated metal cabinet inserts, stay away from brighter colors as it will only make the kitchen appear more streamlined. Hence, black works as a beautiful balance.

Black, white and red: It has been considered to be a fab bistro-style space, which not only looks eclectic, but also cohesive at the same time. Red moldings go together with neutral colors and when used together with soft gray cabinetry ties it all together, you can pick a fridge that has a chalkboard paint to make it more unique.

Shades of blue: Most preferably a darker shade that is sapphire, try picturing black appliances next to a rich sapphire-hued cabinetry shine. You must be smiling all by yourself; this combination makes the colorful backsplash appear more unified together.

Dusty green: Ever thought of this color combination together with black? These two can make the perfect partner in crime, but in this case the kitchen. Keep in mind that it does not matter if the appliances have some stainless on them and to make dusty green appliances work using black appliances creates cohesiveness. Also, you can make the kitchen seats to have a warm wood accent giving the kitchen a great layer of depth.

Light wood: Usually, pale appliances look jarring against dark cabinetry, but the reverse also applies. Black appears sophisticated, sleek, and modern against light wood, on the stools you can use bright blues with a pendant lighting on the kitchen’s middle ground, assists in keeping the kitchen from feeling stark.

Most people have their own preferences when it comes to making the perfect match with black appliances, if you can make a choice you can consult an interior decorator or designer.

The Island

You won’t need your swim trunks or flippie-floppies for these islands, but you will need some creativity. The Island is a kitchens annoying best friend, always the center of attention, but would be incomplete without them.  We take our islands for granted and frankly don’t utilize them to their full potential or give them the design love they deserve. You can use these tips to make your island the true center piece of your kitchen.

  1. Make your island an accent piece by making it a different shade or a completely different color from the rest of your kitchen Cabinets.
  2. Use Lighting over your island to make it more inviting, this is a gathering point in your kitchen, we wouldn’t want people to forget who the center of attention is.
  3. Style is important, but don’t forget to make your island functional. Shelves could be a fun option to store your cookbooks or wine.
  4. Every good island has great seating, the right seating can completely change the feel of your space.
  5. Your island can make for a great work space, think about adding a trash cabinet, or a sink to increase productivity.

Your Kitchen is your own and no one can make it more perfect than you. Be creative and don’t be afraid to add your own personality.

7 Signs It’s Time to Upgrade Your Kitchen

Kitchens are one of the rooms in your home, which make your house special and unique. Kitchens are a place we gather with friends and family and cook our daily meals. Shouldn’t it be a room you are proud of? Here are some signs that it is time to upgrade your space.

Not enough space for your family or company:

Kitchens are the heart of the home, it’s where we spend our time cooking and eating and it’s also a space where we like to entertain our guest. If your kitchen is too small to do any of these then it may be time to update and expand or rearrange. Renovations can be simple or very extensive, but if your space isn’t working then it is probably time to change it up.

Cleaning is a hassle:

Cleaning in itself is already a hassle, if anyone else tells your otherwise run in the opposite direction, because they are crazy. Cleaning doesn’t have to be such a hassle. In today’s kitchen markets there are so many new options for kitchen finishes and appliances that are much easier to clean and keep clean. Don’t spend another minute cleaning the grout on your tile countertop, call a friend, ask to borrow their sledge hammer, and go to town.

Outdated appliances:

This is an easy one to detect, but a hard one to justify. For most of us as long as your appliance work efficiently and look fine you are probably happy, but what most people don’t see is that simple appliance changes can really update the look, storage and functionality of your kitchen. Appliances that are even so much as ten years old could be considered outdated with how far technology has come.

Lack of counter space:

Counter space is an underrated commodity in homes today. Counterpace is key in any kitchen whether you are using it for prep space, storage space, or somewhere to put the snacks for that party, its all-important. Adding more cabinets to support a counter top may not always be an option, but improving your storage inside the cabinets you have can help give your more space by eliminating the clutter on the countertops. Pullouts and dividers can be installed in any cabinet to help get you organized.

Stained, scratched or cracked flooring:

The options out there for flooring today seem limitless and you really can’t go wrong with any of them, although I would suggest choosing a surface that compliments the existing finishes in your home. Choose a floor that suits your lifestyle. If you have large pets maybe don’t choose a hardwood and go for a tile or if you can’t stand the cool touch of tile you could opt for an engineered or hybrid flooring that are both durable and functional.

Not enough light:

We aren’t in the stone ages anymore so please stop cooking in your candle lit dungeon. Lighting can be a cheap and easy fix to making your space feel new and fresh. Dark spaces feel small and gloomy, brightening up your space will make it feel larger and will give you the ability to add a finish to your space that suits your style.

Thinking of selling your home:

If you are thinking of selling your home with a kitchen that belongs in an episode of The Brady Bunch then stop right there. Invest some money into your home whether its new everything of just some simple fixes, it will all pay off for you in the long run. Most home buyers today are looking for something move in ready and are willing to pay a premium for that. By investing some money into your kitchen you could see a greater return on the sale of your home, allowing you to use that equity to invest in your next home.

Make your house a home again by upgrading your outdated kitchen, give yourself the space to entertain again and enjoy those moments with friends and family, give yourself the space to stay clean and organized, and add those finishes that make your space unique and special to your lifestyle. Make your kitchen the room in your house that you can truly be proud of.

Your Trash Deserves Better!

Unless you’re a fuzzy green puppet living on Sesame Street, there is no reason you should be living with your trash anymore. Some of us are all too familiar with that ugly trash can living in our kitchen. Right out in the open for everyone to see and smell or cluttering up our pantries and closets. There are solutions to this problem. There are a lot of people out there today redesigning their kitchen spaces and they are missing out on some of their minor everyday details, trash being one of them. Let’s say the average person produces 4 pounds of garbage output per a day, which according to the EPA is the national average. That adds up quick depending on the number of persons in your household. When you put it in to that context trash isn’t so much a minor detail of your day anymore and it all has to go somewhere.

Now for the Solution! Dedicate a cabinet in your kitchen to a trash pullout. Integrating a trash unit into your kitchen cabinets is a very functional option to this problem and is a great way to open up more space in your kitchen area. These Units come in a variety of sizes making it easy to integrate your trash and recycling needs right into your kitchen design. Your trash can isn’t doing your kitchen any justice. Getting out of that grouch status is easier than you think and your kitchen design team has the solution.
